The club is currently discussing with the director of Lincoln Library some proposals to hold some club functions there. There are already some people playing there occasionally, and this could be a good opportunity for the club to get some additional exposure and members. Currently being discussed are:
  • Holding a regular club meeting one Monday night per month. This would provide an alternative time and location for people who find it inconvenient to come to the mall on Wednesdays, or to B & N on Fridays. Proposed by David.
  • Holding "Chess 101" lectures - basic strategy for people who already know the rules. Proposed by Leonard, for Saturday mornings.
  • Holding "continuous simul" events where a club player would play any comers simultaneously for an hour or two. Proposed by Garald for Thursday mornings.
  • Small, unrated tournaments are possible, so long there are no entry fees involved and no membership requirements (per library regulations).
If you are interested in any of these or have any suggestions to add, post below!

Hi All,

I'm Will O'Hearn and I'm the director of the Lincoln Library. We'd love to have you for a chess event here as David has indicated. We are open to lots of options and possibilities so if there is something you can think of that hasn't been mentioned, we are all ears about that as well. Let me know your thoughts, hope to work with you soon :D

Best,

~Will
