Directions to Douglas United Methodist Church

Douglas United Methodist Church is located at 501 S. Douglas Ave, on the city's near west side. On and off street parking is available (see important notes below). Enter on the west side of the building (the side that faces Illinois St.)

Take Interstate 55/72. Take Exit 96 onto South Grand Ave. Go west a little over 3 miles, until you reach Mac Arthur Blvd. Turn right (north) onto Mac Arthur. Go about 3/4 mile until you reach W. Governor St. Governor will be the second stoplight after Lawrence Ave. that you encounter, or the third overall. Turn left (west) onto Governor, a street paved with bricks. After two more blocks, Douglas Church will be on your left.

Take Interstate 72. (If you are coming up from the south on 55, take 72 westbound, towards Jacksonville, when you reach it.) Take exit 96 onto South Mac Arthur Blvd. Go north about 3 miles. After you pass South Grand Ave., the street will change from commercial to residential. Continue another 3/4 mile until you reach W. Governor St. Governor will be the second stoplight after Lawrence Ave. that you encounter, or the third overall. Turn left (west) onto Governor, a street paved with bricks. After two more blocks, Douglas Church will be on your left.

The entrance that we will be using is on the west end of the building, facing Illinois St. There is a small parking lot on the southeast corner of Governor St. and Illinois St. Additionally, the main church parking lot is located immediately south of the building, and is accessible from both Douglas Ave. and Illinois St.

On-street parking is legal on W. Governor St. and most side streets in the area.

The large parking lot on the southwest corner of Governor St. and Illinois St. belongs to the Jewish synagogue one block to the west. They will be holding services on Saturday. Do not park there!

The immediate vicinity of the church is mostly residential. The nearest places to get food are West Jefferson St., Fairhills Mall (corner of Monroe and Chatham Rd.), S. Mac Arthur Blvd south of Laurel, and South Grand Ave. east of 1st St.
